Turmeric Golden Milk: Perfect Recipe
The Perfect Golden Milk
Golden milk (haldi doodh) is an ancient Ayurvedic drink that has gained global popularity. The key is combining turmeric with black pepper—piperine increases curcumin absorption by 2000%.
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (dairy, oat, or coconut)
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- Pinch of cardamom (optional)
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Whisk until smooth. Heat over medium until steaming (don't boil). Simmer 5 minutes, whisking occasionally. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if using fresh ginger. Pour into mugs and dust with extra cinnamon.
Tips
Use full-fat milk—curcumin is fat-soluble and needs lipids for absorption. Coconut milk adds richness. Make it iced by chilling and serving over ice with a cinnamon stick garnish.
