Smoked Paprika: 3 Ways to Transform Dinner
What Makes It Special
Smoked paprika (pimentón) is made from peppers dried over oak smoke. It comes in dulce (sweet), agridulce (bittersweet), and picante (hot).
Use 1: Breakfast Eggs
Heat olive oil in a pan. Crack eggs and sprinkle smoked paprika over the whites as they cook. The fat blooms the spice, releasing smoky aroma.
Use 2: Roasted Vegetables
Toss cauliflower, sweet potatoes, or carrots with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Roast at 425°F until caramelized.
Use 3: Quick Pan Sauce
After searing chicken or fish, add a splash of wine. Stir in a teaspoon of smoked paprika and a tablespoon of butter. Swirl until emulsified.
Storage Note
Smoked paprika loses its aroma faster than other spices. Buy small quantities and store in a cool, dark place.
